China: Sturgeon

The Chinese sturgeon dates back to the time of the dinosaurs, over 140 million years ago. It swims with the fluid grace of a shark and has the skin of an alligator. The sturgeon can be more than 15 feet long, weigh up to 1,000 pounds, and live for 100 years. Like the panda, it is a symbol of Chinese national pride.
