GORE-TEX® Transalpine-Run 2008 Final (8th) Stage

Back

Time for final attacks and finishing touches at the 4th GORE-TEX® Transalpine Run 2008! Participants will likely give it all, as this will be their last chance to improve or at least secure their overall race ranking. The stage should please the generalists or allrounders among the racers as it will neither provide an advantage to specialists preferring classic marathon style-running nor experts of steep, technical trails. In fact, the ultimate stage will provide a perfect balance of both. Runners get a chance to warm up and set the pace for nine kilometers on gently rising terrain before heading up the steep trails to the Lückelescharte (2545 meters asl). After a forced 600-meter descent it'll be back up to the Gwengalpen Saddle (2,466 meters asl). From there on, the leading racers will hardly take a break to marvel over the dramatic landmark views of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo but will hoof it as fast as possible across the traverse to the Altenstein Valley. This final, in the upper sections somewhat technical descent will require no less than a drop of 1,100 meters into Sesto / Sexten, where thundering applause will welcome the finishers of the 2008 GORE-TEX® Transalpine Run.
