Greetings people of the internet. I am anonymous, or rather, I am one of the thousands of internet users that identify themselves as anonymous. I have seen many misrepresentations of us within the past few days, especially in light of our recent attacks on the Church of Scientology. Anonymous is unlike any other entity on the internet. Unlike many communities we are not based on one website, we hail from a large number of websites. The content of these websites is not what you may imagine it to be. A great deal of it is intentionally disgusting, derogatory, or defamative. We look at these things not because we enjoy them, but because we know others do not. The history of anonymous springs from an older community on the internet known as something awful, but please be aware, they hate us and we hate them. Do not confuse them with us, we have no dealings in our endeavors other than some small moral support. We pride ourselves in being different from the other internet communities not because we view ourselves as superior, but because we view ourselves as inherently different. On our websites we have no usernames, no accounts, and no accountability. After we post something it is removed within hours, if not minutes. Therefore we have no short-term trackable history. Contrary to what you may have heard we are not hackers. I have never seen an anonymous use anything more than amateur tools in an attack. We do not attack with skilled people, we are not navy seals. Think of as more as barbarians...slow to anger, quick to act, and only useful en masse. We generally do not seek to harm, and as some of you have mentioned, we do, occasionally, do some good. We were "instrumental" in the apprehension of Canadian pedophile Chris Forcand. We often go on "pedo raids" attempting to expose pedophiles in chatrooms. I understand you may have seen the infamous "exploding van" video from Fox News. I understand you may have heard of Jake Brahm, an idiot that posted fake terrorist threats on one of our contributing websites. These have nothing to to with the general anonymous. I understand you are aware of the approximately "72,000" myspace pages we "hacked" meaning of course that the users were stupid enough to allow us access to their passwords. Be aware that I am not currently participating in any illegal activities that anonymous is currently involved in, and to my knowledge have commited no crimes in my dealings with anonymous. Hopefully you now know us as not a sensless "internet hate machine" but as a force on the internet seeking neither good nor evil, but lulz. We are anonymous. We do not forgive. We do not forget.
