III. The Butterfly's Evil Spell (El Malefecio De La Mariposa) from the Ballet - A Sea of Seven Colors by Leroy Osmon. Performed by the University of Houston Dance Department (Joanna Friesen/Victoria Loftin) in conjunction with the Univ. of Houston Percussion Studio (Marvin Sparkes) and conducted by Mark Powell. The lead dancer is the amazing Victoria Loftin, solo flute Sydney Carlson, tuba Andrew Kesten. The work was completed on December 30, 1994 at 2:36 a.m. It is scored for Flute, English horn, Horn in F, Tuba, Cello, Celesta and 8 Percussionist performing on a total of 44 different instruments. This work was the result of an earlier collaboration between the composer and choreographer Joanna Friesen. This is the second in a trilogy about the sea. In this case it is the San Andreas Islands off the coast of Colombia. This is an area that is referred to as the "sea of 7 colors". This work is on rental from RBC Music in San Antonio, Texas. The complete ballet is recorded on Mark Custom Recording, Inc. #MCD-1975. The title of the CD is "The Music of Leroy Osmon Vol. I"
