LOL. The Atlanta Olympics is generally considered the worst run Olympic Games in modern times.

thats the beauty of the olympic games...it doesnt matter what your takes are on politics, as long as you abide by the olympic law.

i hope it does go to chicago but you might be right though. rio is probably the front runner right now being that a south american country have never hosted an olympic games. but if it doesnt go to rio, chicago has the next best chance. they cant possibly award it to japan since china just hosted it. they cant possibly award it another european nation since 2012 will be in london. assuming IOC wont award the games to the same continent back to back. regardless...im rooting for chicago 2016

Lighting the cauldron is not about the pageantry, it is about the man or woman who lit the cauldron and what he/she symbolizes in the name of humanity.

Atlanta the city spent almost no money. It was all done by corporate sponsors and wealthy investors. And overall i think the games made like a $15 million dollar profit.

I watch this and I'm filled with a pride of how great America can be. This was a time (1996) when everything was going right. The economy was booming, people were happy, there were no wars, Clinton was running the country flawlessly, and the United States was looked upon as a place of hope and moral strength by the rest of the world. 12 years later, and look what the Neo-Cons have done to all that. Hopefully Barack Obama can return us to the stature that we as Americans took for granted.
